Why Is Learning Pottery Become A Challenge

Learning pottery can be a fulfilling and creative experience, but there can be certain challenges to consider.

Are pottery studios easily accessible from your location, considering traffic and transportation options.

Learning pottery is a slow and gradual process for beginners who pick up skills at a varying pace before they can create more complex or aesthetically pleasing pieces. Not allowed to progress at your own pace in group classes can be frustrating.

There are limited slots for pottery courses, which often lead to a competitive enrollment process. Securing a spot that suits your schedule can be a challenge.

Pottery requires specific equipment and materials like clay, pottery wheels, kilns, glazes and tools. Ensuring access to these resources outside of class hours is hard.

Pottery is an art that requires patience, perseverance and a willingness to learn from mistakes. Beginners find it challenging to create plenty pieces to track their progress due to lack of practice time on the pottery wheel or storage space in studios.

The Instructor

Hello, I’m Sanchit, the founder and instructor at Wheel and Potter.

Born and raised in the vibrant city of Bangalore, I did my schooling at Bishop Cottons and college at St. Josephs. While sports dominated my interests growing up, there was a subtle connection with clay woven into my childhood.

My father, a scientist in ceramics and glass, sparked my fascination for artistic articles crafted from clay and the intricate craft itself.

I studied commerce with a finance background, and entered into the world of finance, working at a German Investment Bank.

However, life had other plans for me, and my passion and love for sports, led me to become a football and sports conditioning instructor.

After a few fulfilling years in the field of sports, I found myself drawn back to that childhood connection with clay. The curiosity that lingered from my childhood and my new found love for teaching evolved into a burning desire to do pottery.

After taking several courses, countless hours of creation, and breaking thousands of pots along the way (who’s counting, right?), I’ve come to realize that the journey of pottery is not just about creating masterpieces; it’s about finding joy in the process, embracing the unexpected, and discovering the profound connection between hands, clay, and the stories they tell.

Wheel and Potter was started in 2017, and today it’s not just a studio; it’s a place where creativity and passion for the art of pottery come together.

I’ve had the privilege of teaching thousands of students through courses, workshops, clay dates, corporate events, school and college events, and I’ve been featured in newspapers and online publications.

I am genuinely excited to be a part of your pottery journey, and I look forward to sharing the joy of creation with you.
