The Studio

Wheel and Potter is an exclusive pottery studio with a pleasant ambience of an open to sky terrace, surrounded by lush green trees and silence. Our terrace studio is airy, cozy and so aesthetic that – it is bound to awaken your inner artist.

You’ll come across a variety of classes and workshops taking place at our ceramic studio regularly.

We have classes for children as well as adults and they are taught everything from clay preparation, hand- building techniques, wheel throwing, under-glazing, glazing, firing, how to set up and run your own pottery studio and much more.

Our pottery studio is a must visit for all clay enthusiasts – beginner or expert!

We have both short and long term courses and workshops that can be taken up alone, or with family and friends.

Our Courses

Beginner

NOTE: Flexible schedules are available, so you can work at your own pace. 

The day and slot of a class can be decided upon between the instructor and the student, to complete the total number of clases in the course.

  • Classes/Sessions – 8
  • Hours – 30 (3 hours each session + 6 hours of free practice hours that can be taken anytime during the course)
  • Syllabus -Introduction to Pottery | Types of Clay | Stages of Clay | Hand-Building Techniques | Wedging Techniques | Wheel Throwing Techniques | Centering | Forming the Depth | Forming the Base | Pulling the Walls | Trimming | Attaching Handles | Sanding | Drying | Bisqueware | Glazing | Glazeware
  • Material  Stoneware clay (get comfortable throwing with upto 800 grams on the wheel)
  • Equipment Electric potter’s wheel, gas kiln and electric kiln
  • Eligibility Age 12+ years (no prior experience required)
  • Take Away All the pieces made by you during the course (glazed and fired)
  • Fee –  ₹14,000 (inclusive of all tax and materials)

Intermediate

NOTE: Flexible schedules are available, so you can work at your own pace. 

The day and slot of a class can be decided upon between the instructor and the student, to complete the total number of classes in the course.

  • Classes/Sessions – 12
  • Hours – 40 (3 hours each session + 4 hours of free practice hours that can be taken anytime during the course)
  • Syllabus -Wheel Throwing Open & Closed Forms | Centering Bigger Amounts of Clay | Tap Centering | Wedging Techniques | Carving Techniques | Surface Decoration Techniques | Altering Looks of Thrown Pieces | Under-glazing | Waxing | Different Glazing Techniques | Bisque Firing in the Kiln | Glaze Firing in the Kiln
  • Material  Stoneware clay (get comfortable throwing upto 1.5 kilograms on the wheel)
  • Equipment Electric potter’s wheel, gas kiln and electric kiln
  • Eligibility Age 12+ years (comfortable handling up to 800 grams of clay on the wheel)
  • Take Away All the pieces made by you during the course (glazed and fired)
  • Fee – ₹18,000 (inclusive of all tax and materials)

Workshops

We have single day workshops running at our studio regularly. Workshops introduce you to the different techniques involved in the creation of ceramics.

We offer hand-building, wheel throwing, under-glazing and glazing workshops. 

Workshops can be taken by individuals or groups.

NOTE: 

Flexible schedules are available, so the day and time of a workshop can be decided upon between the instructor and the student.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

1. No refunds will be provided if the registration is not cancelled 48 hours before the start of the workshop.

2. A full refund will be provided if cancellation does occur before 48 hours of commencement of the workshop.

Reschedule Policy

1. No reschedule of workshop is allowed.

If a person is not able to attend the workshop for any reason, they can transfer their slot to another person for the workshop.

Reschedule to an alternative date is not possible once you register. You will need to cancel the registration for the existing workshop (Cancellation and Refund policy will apply) and re-register for a new workshop.

Hand-Building | Wheel Throwing

You can choose between hand-building or wheel throwing at the studio.

  • Material  – Stoneware clay
  • Equipment – Electric potter’s wheel, gas kiln,  electric kiln and all necessary hand-building and wheel throwing tools.
  • Eligibility – Age 12+ years (no prior experience required).
  • Take Away – All the pieces made by you during the workshop (they will be glazed and fired and can be collected after 3-4 weeks subject to kiln survival).
  • Duration – 3 hours
  • Fee –  ₹2,250/person

Under-Glazing & Glazing

(Pottery Painting)

You get to paint 3 hand-crafted bisqueware pieces (cup, bowl and wall hanging/coaster) and glaze them at the end of the session.

  • Material  – Bisque ware, ceramic colors, under-glazes & glazes.
  • Equipment -Gas kiln,  electric kiln, paint brushes and all necessary under-glazing and glazing tools.
  • Eligibility – Age 12+ years (no prior experience required).
  • Take Away – Your 3 painted pieces (they will be glaze fired and can be collected after 3-4 weeks subject to kiln survival).
  • Duration – 3 hours
  • Fee –  ₹2,500/person

Workshops For Kids

Our workshops for kids are designed to spark creativity and fun while introducing the exciting world of pottery to young minds.

Through hands-on sessions and playful exploration, children will discover the joy of molding clay into unique masterpieces.

Our experienced instructors ensure a safe, nurturing environment where kids can unleash their imagination and craft their own pottery wonders.

Kids will be taught to create simple articles like cups, bowls, plates, tumblers, coasters, wall hangings, planters etc. using the hand-building techniques. 

Note: Parents are requested to not interfere or ask for specific articles to be created during the session. This ensures a focused and professional learning environment for your child.

  • Material  – Stoneware clay
  • Equipment – Gas kiln,  electric kiln, wedging boards, branding wheels and all necessary hand-building tools.
  • Eligibility – Age 5-12 years (no prior experience required).
  • Take Away – All the pieces made during the workshop (they will be glazed and fired and can be collected after 3-4 weeks subject to kiln survival).
  • Duration – 2 hours
  • Fee –  ₹1,500/kid

Under-Glazing & Glazing

(Pottery Painting)

Foundational Course

Designed for the serious potter, this course will train and equip you with all the essential skills required to take up pottery professionally. At the end of this course, you will be able to set up your own pottery studio – to become a full-time production potter or to teach pottery.

  • Weeks – 12 (3 months)
  • Syllabus -Beginner to advanced level hand-building and wheel throwing, glazing and firing, loading, unloading and operating a kiln, surface decoration techniques, practical knowledge of recycling clay, setting up and running your own ceramic studio, opportunity to teach sessions at our studio, complete access to studio space and more.
  • Material  Stoneware clay (get comfortable throwing all kind of forms with upto 5 kilograms of clay)
  • Equipment Electric potter’s wheel, gas kiln and electric kiln
  • Eligibility 16+ years (no prior experience required)
  • Take Away A collection of your favorite pieces made by you during the course
  • Fee –  ₹1,00,000 (inclusive of all materials and 3 months of access to studio space)

Studio Space

Wheel and Potter is home to a 2000 square feet ceramic studio that is dedicated to the personal development of pottery.  The purpose of the pottery studio is to create an artistic community where individuals can interact with one another socially and artistically – thereby maximizing each member’s potential.

We offer hourly, weekly and monthly studio access.

Our studio access includes the use of all studio equipment like electric potters wheel, branding wheels, wedging boards, work tables and all necessary tools.

Materials and firings are also available for an additional fee.

NOTE:

Registration and payment is required to secure a spot in our classes and workshops. To confirm availability of spots or dates, you can reach out to us before the registration and payment.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

1. No refunds will be provided if the registration is not cancelled 48 hours before the start of the program.

2. A full refund will be provided if cancellation does occur before 48 hours of commencement of the program.

3. Only under exceptional circumstances if you are unable to attend the classes, up to two classes can be adjusted for a later date. (Wheel and Potter reserves the rights to decide or deny extra sessions depending on the reason for missing the sessions)  

4. Wheel and Potter will not offer refund for the sessions missed.

5. Wheel and Potter reserves the right to cancel or change the schedule of classes. The participant will receive full refund in the event of cancellation. However, if the classes are rescheduled, there will be no refund.

Studio Closure:

If the studio is forced to close due to factors outside of our control such as severe weather conditions, or an infectious disease such as Covid-19, we will make effort to reschedule the paused sessions. However we will not offer any refunds.
